Oh, yeah! That was almost a Minneapolis sf fan signature: Purple ditto ink on yellow paper. (It was more contrast for longer print runs.) Several of the zine fans that used spirit duplicators did that.
If I am scanning old dittoed pages, I am more likely to just do the highest contrast in black & white. This use of color to do a reproduction of how the original colors looked was 'done for effect'.
Much of the old furry zine stuff will be converted to black & white graphics files: "As clear as possible."

They do exist somewhat in science fiction fandom. Many come out as pdf files emailed to those who want to print hardcopies.

and that's the one thing that gives me a little bit of a sad about it.
automobiles, cities, and drunken debauchery, are things my mind sees as being just too human,
and too many mainstream people coming into the fandom, not for vootie, but for those too human aspects they've been led to expect to find here, and expecting to, bringing them with them.

the turnpike was a mistake. it should have been a narrow gauge interurban. but then you knew i'd say that.
the idea that everything and everyone should have to be upward bound, or bound anywhere, besides between the pages of a book,
is to me, a mistake also. i know that was the thing in fandoms of all kinds even back then.
and i'm glad and appreciative of those who have pushed.
people can call me lazy or whatever, but i'd rather stroll unhuredly in a garden of participatory creativity, then have to feel complled to go any particular place with doing so. (but it is fun to ride around on little trains in a whole world that could be such a garden)
(when the smart people were teaching themselves how to draw animal people, i was imagineering infrastructure and cultural alternatives. not a matter of smartness, i just find the odd at the root of interest. as for people, i can kind of relate to a cat. at least in the way that i see them. as people.)

I was also impressed when the local humidity (or machine adjustments) saturated the paper with the alcohol solvent that picked up the thin layer of purple ink. Besides blurry text, one could look up from sniffing the icy-cold vapors coming from the paper, and see half the students doing the same. Huffing-up before reading the assignment.
